Asking the father of your child to pay for babysitting fees is pretty normal, in my opinion.
It is clear right from the start that the father, Jake, has never paid child support, and OP is the only one taking care of her child financially.
Not only that, but Jake doesn’t even look after his child when OP’s son is over at his house, and thus the kid gets bullied by his step-siblings.
OP tried talking it out with Jake, but when that didn’t work, she hired a babysitter, but that has obviously been quite expensive.

Jake, however, is not happy with this development and is accusing the OP of babysitting her son and saying that he isn’t going to pay for the babysitter.
This is how OP ended up on Reddit, asking if she was in the wrong for not letting her son see his father.
OP believes that she may be in the wrong since her brother agrees that her son needs to be around a male role model.
OP realises that she is very overprotective of her son, but she doesn’t want him to get hurt.

Most commenters were in agreement with her.
Some commenters also mentioned the age difference.
The father needs to pay child support.
Some people had differing opinions on this story.
Some people called her out for not asking her father to pay child support.
She needs to involve the law in this situation.

Legal action may be the only solution here.
While a kid does need their father, nobody needs a father like him.
It can be a risk to take this situation to court.
There was some really good advice from people.
The OP is going to need help with this one.
I am not sure that blaming her is the solution here.
