Today, we’re sharing a story about petty revenge that took place a few years ago. OP and his girlfriend went on vacation to Asheville, where they booked a cabin through a rental company. Since OP’s girlfriend grew up in that area, she had friends and family nearby, and they planned to visit them during their stay.
The rental company had a strict policy that no extra guests were allowed to stay overnight in the cabin; otherwise, a fee would be incurred. OP and his girlfriend invited a couple of her friends over for a fun evening. The friends arrived at the cabin around 7 PM and left by 11 PM after a great time together.
However, a few days later, when OP returned home, he received an email from a woman at the rental company. She claimed that a maintenance worker had reported extra guests staying overnight, despite the fact that OP and his girlfriend had only had their friends over for a few hours. The woman insisted on charging them an additional $200 for breaking the “occupancy” rules.
Confused, OP researched the occupancy policy online, which did not specify that guests could not visit for a short time. When he informed the woman of this, she dismissed his argument, stating it didn’t matter—they would still be charged the fee. This is where things took a turn.
OP and his girlfriend rallied around eight friends who each had multiple Google accounts, and they began flooding the rental company’s Google page with 1-star reviews. This action frustrated the woman so much that she started apologizing, claiming it was all a misunderstanding and begging them to remove the negative reviews. OP, however, stood his ground, insisting that it was clearly not a misunderstanding, given how they were treated.
